Seacliff Private Equity Management:
Stephen Curran, P.Eng, M.B.A. — Managing Director, Private Equity
As Managing Director (Private Equity), Steve oversees the identification, acquisitions, and management of our investments in private operating businesses. He is a member of Seacliff’s Investment Committee, which is responsible for investment decisions and strategy. He also sits as a board member for each of our investee companies.
Prior to joining Seacliff in 2013, Steve oversaw the Seacliff acquisition program through his merger and acquisitions firm, SableRidge Capital Partners, of which he was a founding partner.
Steve’s deep sector expertise and business management experience come from his thirty year career in senior corporate finance roles with leading companies such as Cadillac Fairview Corporation and Sun Life Financial, and most recently in mid-market investment banking. He has held CEO and CFO roles in the industrial technology sector, and earlier in his career in project engineering/construction management roles in infrastructure construction.
Steve holds an MBA (1986) from Ivey School of Business at Western University in addition to a Bachelor of Engineering Science, and has been a registered Professional Engineer since 1982. He has been active for many years with Vancouver youth sports organizations and various not-for-profit boards.
Taf Mbanga, CA, CFA — Associate, Private Equity
Taf joined the Seacliff Group as Associate (Private Equity), in January 2015. He brings considerable experience identifying opportunities and completing merger and acquisition transactions in middle market businesses. He also has strong sector expertise in Seacliff’s focus areas, and brings a unique mix of financial, analytical, and operational skills.
Prior to joining Seacliff, Taf was with KPMG in Edmonton, Alberta, where he was a Manager with the Corporate Finance group and a Senior Audit Accountant. He began his career as an Analyst with Enbridge Pipelines in 2008 following his graduation from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce.
Taf is a CA (2011), and received his CFA designation in 2014.
